| Preserve our five unique communities |

| We live in paradise
but our ambiance and small-town beach feel are being overwhelmed by excessive development.I will support funding traffic relief measures that reduce speeds and discourage cut-through traffic in our residential neighborhoods. |
| Close development loopholes |
Traffic congestion, lack of green space, and houses that go from lot line to lot line are symptoms of runaway growth. The defeat of Proposition A in 2005 was a clear mandate from residents to prevent limitless growth and preserve their neighborhoods.
I will close loopholes in building ordinances that allow developments to overwhelm our neighborhoods. Encinitas deserves quality projects that blend in with and enhance our communities.s.

| Acquire dwindling open space |
 | Parkland and habitat acquisition have always been one of my priorities.
I will continue to work to preserve irreplaceable coastal and inland habitats by purchasing open space before its gone.
|
| Protect our beaches and bluffs |
Our beaches are one of our most important assets. We must ensure clean ocean water, beach sand replenishment, and restoration of San Elijo Lagoon.
The city of Encinitas should set the example for energy and water conservation.

Champion transparent government & encourage citizen participation
|
 | The success of our city depends on transparency of local government and full citizen participation in decision making.
I am your advocate for open, responsive government that invites and welcomes citizen participation. |
| Ensure strong fiscal health |
 | While our region and our state are in difficult economic straights, we enjoy a solid financial footing. Our businesses continue to support our revenue stream and strong sales tax base. Encinitas earned one of the highest credit ratings of all California cities, thanks to our citys conservative financial planning.I will continue to promote fiscal health by approving only balanced budgets and requiring adequate contingency reserves. I support local businesses, historic preservation, arts, recreation, and the great variety of cultural events organized by community and business groups of Encinitas. |
